Industrial Engineering Internship: Graph Neural Networks for Semiconductor Full-time

Background Information

ASML is a world leader in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. It’s innovative machine stack includes state of the art lithography systems along with cutting edge metrology systems. In semiconductor manufacturing, overlay is defined as the spatial alignment error between two semiconductor layers. The control of overlay plays an essential role in the optimization of the fabrication yield and profit margin. In this project, you will have the opportunity to interact with various experts on machine learning, optics and signal processing within the group Image Processing & Machine Learning in ASML.

The team is looking for students interested in pursuing a 6-12 month industrial internship. If the project is successful, the scope could be extended to a thesis project.

Your Assignment

The semiconductor manufacturing process involves imaging structures with nanometer scale resolution. ASML machines use a wide range of algorithms to transform acquired signal into required measurements to optimize the wafer manufacturing process. The main goal of this internship assignment is to design and develop next generation of geometric deep learning algorithms to improve the performance of some of ASML’s tools and solutions. Specific tasks will include the design and validation of custom-made machine learning architecture, on both simulated and measurement data of structures imaged using ASML’s machines. The candidate is expected to perform a detailed and systematic comparison of the current state-of-the-art with the techniques developed in the project.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

• Are a master student in the fields of computer science, machine learning, computer vision, mathematics and/or physics.
• Are skilled in: Signal Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Python, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Scikit-Learn, JAX.
• Have an interest in or experience with Graph Neural Networks and physics-informed machine learning. (Preference will be given to these candidates).
• Are Independent, highly motivated and possess good technical communication and presentation skills.
• Have great communication skills in English both verbally and in writing.

This is a Master apprentice internship with a duration of 6 to 12 months, for 4-5 days a week, starting as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.
