Huawei’s Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

The Huawei Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity (AI4Sec) Research Team is responsible for the R&D of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions for Cybersecurity. Our research topics of interest include, but are not limited to: malware analysis, web security and network analytics for advanced threat detection. We also foster AI/ML research for multi-modal representation learning, interpretability, robustness and uncertainty, few-shot learning, reinforcement learning (RL) and large-scale machine learning.

Security Machine Learning Research Engineer(m/f/d)

As part of this expansion, we are seeking enthusiastic and talented recent graduates with a Master’s or PhD to join our team as (Junior) Security Machine Learning Research Engineers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to begin your career at the cutting-edge intersection of Cybersecurity and AI/ML.

Your mission

• Learn and contribute to the research and development of innovative cybersecurity products using AI/ML techniques.
• Assist in designing and developing data-driven prototypes for integration into various security intelligence products and solutions.
• Gain hands-on experience with AI/ML algorithms for network security applications.
• Contribute to the design of AI/ML solutions and full-process system engineering for improving threat detection and response capabilities to support security product commercial success.
• Collaborate with and learn from multinational research teams across Europe, Canada, Singapore, China, and other regions.

Your areas of expertise

• Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of web technologies and interest in learning about browser engines, JavaScript, and web security.
• Eagerness to learn about network protocols, TCP/IP fundamentals, and network security principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with a willingness to learn C/C++.
• Proven interest in AI/ML through academic projects, internships, or personal endeavors.
• Passion for cybersecurity and a strong desire to learn and grow in this field.
• Good communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English.
