Job Summary
The HP Future Technologies and Experiences Group, which is building the next generation of innovative experiences for PC users, is seeking an individual to join our team as a Principal AI/ML scientist in our HP India R&D team. The candidate will be involved in the research and development of generative AI models and will work with other team members and business unit partners to develop proof-of-concept prototypes and help move technologies from research to product. The role will involve research, development and model optimization for edge use cases.
The candidate should ideally have an MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related discipline with expertise in machine learning.

HP R&D research scientists are expected to undertake programs which will advance the state of the art and have a significant business impact for HP. The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify key issues and challenges with existing implementations and implement solutions for real-world application. Also, the candidate should be able to collaborate with other scientists, developers, strategists, and product managers on new applications. Strong communication skills are required, and the ability to drive applied research into production is highly valued.
Responsibilities
• Researches state-of-the-art AI technologies and applies them to solve a user need.
• Designs machine learning systems, runs machine learning tests and experiments, and retrains systems when necessary.
• Delivers results according to project schedules and quality while maintaining SLAs on velocity, productivity, and quality.
• Performs annotation to monitor and train machine learning models for multiple products.
• Participates in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
• Collaborates with data science and engineering teams to integrate machine learning solutions.
• Engages in state-of-the-art research in AI and ML, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of the industry.
• Leverages deep algorithmic knowledge to design and implement robust machine learning solutions.
• Manages departmental resources and maintains a high-performing team.
Education & Experience Recommended
• Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. Ideally, the candidate would have an MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related discipline with expertise in machine learning.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in computer programming languages, machine learning, algorithms, statistical methods, or a related field.
• A track record of demonstrated innovation (patents/publications/product contributions)
• A track record of product contributions and technology leadership
