Product Engineer I – AI Assistants & Extended Reality Full-time

Overview

As a Product Engineer, you will join a team that is pushing the boundaries of technology at the intersection of Extended Reality (XR), GIS with AI. As XR & AI-driven features become increasingly available to consumers and experts across platforms and devices, it becomes paramount to deeply understand and envision how the power of GIS can be furthered.

As a cross-industry team, we build out design patterns for a wide range of future XR+AI-driven features that would potentially be implemented in a broad cross-section of Esri products. The customers we serve utilize a complex ecosystem of platforms and tools. We help them meet their goals by anticipating future needs that could best be met by well-designed, grounded feature innovations across products. These feature innovations work hand-in-hand with incremental enhancements currently requested by customers and are replicated across common industry-level needs.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of our agile innovation design/dev team
• Work with researchers, designers, and cross-product team members to help create, design, refine, and prototype XR software design patterns, algorithms, toolkits, libraries, SDKs, and demos that could be relevant to existing or future Esri products, applications, libraries, SDKs, custom projects, and more
• Help evaluate implementations of XR+AI-driven algorithms and tools to determine their impact and usefulness
• Help implement algorithms in C#, JavaScript, or python depending on requirement and optimize them to run on smart devices or other XR related hardware
• Help write and maintain unit test cases for core toolkits or libraries used

Requirements

• 1+ years of industry experience working in a software development environment
• Ability to help design, implement and deploy projects; have experience working independently or as part of a team for larger projects
• Familiar with agile development process
• Swift programming with SwiftUI or Kotlin and MVVM experience
• AR/XR experience using Apple ARKit, RealityKit or Android ARCore
• Bachelor’s in computer science or related field

Recommended Qualifications

• Good 3D computer graphics skills and computational geometry
• Experience with 3D modeling software such as Blender, MeshLab, is a plus
• Experience with UI/UX design and implementation is a plus
• Experience with GitHub, ZenHub is desirable

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

$68,640-$98,592 USD
