We have an exciting new job opening for a Generative AI Scientist in our Rapid Response Team. The open position is in our Eindhoven based Rapid Response Team (RRT). The RRT is part of the Data and AI group (D&AI) at Thermo Fisher Scientific. This multi-disciplinary team of focuses unlocking possibilities for the use of Generative AI for our customer products and R&D processes. The RRT is an interdisciplinary group that operates within a tight timeframe of four weeks, progressing from ideation to a proof of concept (POC).

You would become be one of our creative forces that explores and demonstrates how brand-new GenAI technologies can play a role in future products or process improvements. You do this by being constantly curious and in interaction with many others in the company. As an AI scientist in the RRT, you will be responsible for implementing and iterating on prototypes, validating and refining assumptions and risks, and preparing demos and reports. You will collaborate with a diverse team of experts, including AI application specialists, AI science specialists, marketing/service digital specialists, and IT & SW digital specialists. You will also communicate and collaborate with partner teams throughout the sprints, and share the results and learnings with the wider organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and computer science, with experience and interest in (generative) AI techniques. These include natural language generation, computer vision, speech synthesis, and reinforcement learning. Knowledge on AI related hardware is a plus. You should be a creative problem solver, able to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, and have good communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities:

• Develop and propose compelling proof-of-concepts for application of generative AI in customer products or R&D process improvements.
• Keep up to date with the latest advancements in the field of Generative AI and disseminate that learning in the team.
• Collaborate closely with the AI teams across Thermo Fisher Scientific to define and integrate next generation AI methods into our customers products.
• Drive patent generation in your field of expertise.

Qualifications:

We require a hands-on researcher with excellent analytical skills and an intrinsic drive to overcome obstacles.

• Preferably a Ph.D. in Computer Science or AI / Data Science.
• Experience with applied machine learning research, with a focus on generative models such as LLM’s, GANs, VAEs, autoregressive models, and diffusion models.

Being a highly collaborative and adaptable researcher with great interpersonal skills, integrating well into multidisciplinary teams.

• Able to build connections with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
• The ability to communicate effectively and build meaningful relationships that improve project outcomes and promotes collaboration.
