UI Designer, Generative AI application Full-time

Job Description:

The Search Department focuses on the Search, Discovery, and Navigation experience for Rakuten users. We design, develop, and deploy customer-facing search experiences used by millions of Rakuten customers every day. We strive to deliver the most innovative solutions that are helpful to people and societies around the world.

We are seeking a talented and creative UI Designer to join our team and help design intuitive, engaging, and visually stunning user interfaces for our generative AI product. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UI design, a passion for AI-driven technologies, a keen eye for detail and a strong team spirit. The role will also work with Rex Design Lab, the creative Hub of Rakuten Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into compelling UI designs.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that effectively communicate design ideas and user flows.
• Design and implement user interfaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, ensuring a seamless user experience.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
• Stay up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and incorporate them into your work.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a consistent design system and style guide.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer, preferably with experience in designing applications that leverage AI technologies.
• Strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and process, including examples of wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.
• High-level proficiency in Figma (UI library and component creation/modification/maintenance)
• The ability to develop quick PoC and prototypes to demonstrate user interactions.
• Solid knowledge of UI/UX best practices and stays current on design trends and technology evolution on the web.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale.
• Experience with user research and usability testing methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Deep passion for AI
• Being fluent in Japanese will be a big plus, as the candidate will have to liaise with Japanese stakeholders.
