SW/AI Engineer, Senior (mid-career) Full-time

Job Description

The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking an individual with a strong working knowledge in software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI to support the AI Integration team and product portfolio, focusing on the Cognitive Baseline program. The team is focused on exploiting small, innovative teams to rapidly iterate and mature solutions from prototypes to deployment for utilization across the enterprise and in the field for our customers.

Our program team is looking for a motivated AI software developer with competencies in software and machine learning to assist in the architecture and implementation of our initiatives to insert AI into all areas of 21st Century Security, particularly in areas of software integration of advanced algorithms in large System of Systems (SoS). Object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), modern software development fundamentals and best practices as well as DevSecOps and CI/CD experience are required

Must exhibit self-motivation, a strong work ethic, time management and interpersonal skills. The team’s preference is for a candidate who will be based from any major Lockheed Martin facility, e.g. Palmdale, Denver, Ft Worth, Philadelphia, or Marietta with the option to work remotely on a hybrid schedule.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Computer Engineering from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience, with 5 years of professional experience; or no experience with a related Master’s degree.

Experience developing in Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies

Experience working with Agile methodologies

Experience with Python, C++, GO, or other compiled languages

Experience providing best practices and design principles in all program technologies and implementing them across product teams

Familiarity with transitioning AI prototypes to production

Must be a US Citizen

Desired skills

Containerization/Docker experience

Communication/messaging protocol experience (MMQT and gRPC preferred)

Top Secret // SCI Clearance

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $100,900 – $193,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $116,000 – $218,500. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
