Software Engineering Manager II, Storage Management, AI/ML Full-time

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C , Java, JavaScript).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
• 3 years of experience with Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, including applying AI/ML to real-world problems, such as launching an AI/ML product or leading AI/ML initiatives.
• 3 years of experience with Cloud technologies, cloud computing concepts, architectures, and technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a changing organization.
• Experience with the design, implementation, and operation of distributed systems, including concepts like consistency, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• Experience with generative AI models, including large language models (LLMs) and generative AI agents, with knowledge of techniques like fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
• Knowledge of various storage technologies, including different storage media, protocols, and distributed storage systems.

As an Engineering Manager on the Storage Intelligence Data Platform team, you’ll leverage AI and storage knowledge to manage the ecosystem. You’ll build partnerships across Google, drive the technical direction, and ensure the reliability and scalability of storage infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Own the direction and execution for the team, set the idea, roadmap, and priorities for Google Cloud Storage’s intelligent storage management solutions.
• Design, develop, and deliver storage management solutions, leveraging AI and storage knowledge to manage Google’s storage ecosystem.
• Collaborate with teams across Google, including product management, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders, to drive positive outcomes.
• Partner with product managers and team leads to define the team’s roadmap and strategy, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and customer needs.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, quality, and psychological safety.
