AWS HealthLake (AHL) is looking for a SDE to join our team. Amazon HealthLake (AHL) is a HIPAA eligible service for ingestion, storage and analysis of healthcare data that operates in CMH, IAD, PDX and BOM regions. We allow hospitals, doctor’s offices, insurance and life sciences companies to manage, search and run analytics on medical record data stored in AWS using the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard. Functionally, AHL is both a transactional datastore and a datalake for analytics integration. The system consists of FrontEnd, MetaData, Control Plane and Data Plane service components. The Control Plane services provide customer facing APIs for manipulating data stores. The Data Plane services provide customer facing APIs for manipulating FHIR resources within data stores.
As a software developer in this role, you will
*Work with peers to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
*Lead and influence the overall tech strategy for Search and Analytics
*Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software.
*Tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with large HealthCare customers.
Key job responsibilities
A SDE2 in AHL is able to independently contribute towards feature development and Ops excellence. The team also requires the expertise to troubleshoot and solve range of operational issues as we are seeing increased customer interest and commitments to onboard.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
