Senior Software Engineer, BigQuery, Query Engine, Machine learning Full-time

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of coding experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C , Java, or Python.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience with Query processing and Query Optimization.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience with Unix/Linux or Windows environments, C development, distributed systems, Machine Learning, information retrieval, network programming or developing large software systems.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Develop product or system code and help define the roadmap for integrating new ideas in our modern adaptive Query Engine.
• Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Test new ideas to utilize Machine Learning (ML) in SQL Database Query Optimization. Analyze results and map with state of the art research to find a practical application(s) in the Query Engine.
