Product Policy Manager, AI Full-time

Meta is seeking a product-focused strategic thinker to join its Product Policy & Strategy team as a Product Policy Manager. In this role, you will work closely with product and engineering teams to provide policy counsel and to design product policies to help build new products and systems with expression, integrity, privacy, transparency and safety in mind, while understanding core business priorities. You’ll accomplish this goal by working with a range of cross-functional stakeholders, such as other policy, product, legal, comms, design, and marketing teams. The ideal candidate will have an interest in emerging technologies and policy work, with an understanding of AI policy and regulatory issues, including recent scholarship and relevant industry trends. They will also thrive in a fast-paced environment and share our vision of building the future of human connection and the technology that makes it possible.

Product Policy Manager, AI Responsibilities

• Provide policy guidance that protects and promotes free expression in GenAI products/features, while minimizing business risks, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory and policy environments.
• Develop and implement forward-thinking policies that enable the responsible development and deployment of cutting-edge GenAI technologies.
• Build scalable frameworks to operationalize a consistent set of risk mitigations across a broad range of products.
• Work with software engineers, designers, lawyers, product managers, and others to help product teams address policy, legal, engineering, user interface, business, and marketing considerations.
• Provide policy guidance to internal and external stakeholders on issues related to GenAI products and features.
• Act as an escalation point of contact and manage internal communications for policy issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, policy, law, comms, computer science or related field
• 5+ years of experience working in policy, policy enforcement, law, government, national security, law enforcement, product design, product management or related field
• Experience working independently and cross-functionally to develop policies and apply analytical thinking to solving ambiguous, complex problems
• Experience with consensus building in a highly matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in political science, policy, law, computer science or related field
• Experience developing policies for AI-powered image, audio, and video products, AI agents
• Proficiency in drafting formal policy documentation for wide-ranging audience.
• Experience advising on AI technologies and other online products and platforms in a product policy role
• Experience dealing with escalations and/or time-sensitive issues
• Experience articulating policies and their reasoning to various audiences effectively
• Experience in adversarial simulation and red-teaming methodologies
• Understanding of AI policy and tech issues, including key stakeholders, research initiatives, and relevant industry trends

$151,000/year to $216,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
