Objectives:
Our team “Data and AI China” develops innovative platforms to derive insights from data that support better and faster business decisions. We implement end to end solutions in their complete lifecycles and provide comprehensive services in various domains for BASF China business partners.

You will verify and implement data/AI solutions designed by our architects. In other words, you will work on BASF standard data and AI tools/products, such as data lake, data science platform, data integration tools, BI reporting tool. You will contribute to the realization of our internal client’s data platforms, ingesting multiple data sources, process data, serve data for reporting and AI applications. While working on end-to-end data/AI driven solutions, you will also support data analysts and data scientists to build analytical and AI applications.

Main Task:
– Implement and maintain data ingestion from multiple data sources by using appropriate data integration tools, i.e, Kafka, Azure Data Factory
– Design, Implement, Optimize and maintain data processing workflows using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory, including data transformation, data modelling and data distribution
– Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
– Collaborate with the data analysts and data scientist to build BI reports and AI applications together
– Develop and maintain technical documentation.
– Collect best practices and help iterate our data foundation products/tools
– Work with architects and stakeholders to evaluate requirements, assist customers in utilizing the platforms/solutions provided, and facilitate project initiation.

Job Requirements:
– Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or related fields.
– Minimum 3-4 years related working experience as data Engineer or data analyst
– Experience in Agile way of working with a DevOps mindset
– Strong data integration skills to ingest source data, such as Kafka, or ETL tools like Azure Data Factory.
– In-depth know-how with big data concepts (data lake, data warehouse, Lakehouse, metadata) and big data tech skills (Spark, Python, SQL).
– Understand metadata management in data platforms
– Fluent English and Mandarin skills

Nice to have:
– Experiences with data science, like Machine Learning, Generative AI
– Power BI experience is a plus.
– Better to have some experience with automation & scripting with tools like Azure DevOps pipelines, Azure Data Factory, etc.
– Ideally, backed up by vendor certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer/Analyst, Databricks).
