Job Description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is on the hunt for an experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer (SME) with expertise in mitigation best practices of AI bias to support our customer in the Washington DC area.

As an Artificial Intelligence Engineer (SME), you will:

• Provide strategic advice and support on advanced AI / ML concepts, systems, technologies, and initiatives, to support DHS CBP’s mission needs.
• Develop and coordinate recommendations, concepts, and requirements for the application of current and emerging technologies and AI bias mitigation best practices.

Responsibilities of an Artificial Intelligence Engineer (SME):

• Design and develop scalable solutions using AI tools and machine-learning models.
• Perform research and testing to develop machine learning algorithms and predictive models.
• Utilize big data computation and storage tools to create prototypes and datasets.
• Develop strategies for AI Bias analysis and develop test procedures to mitigate bias in accordance with DHS/CBP AI policies and directives.
• Conduct model training and evaluation; integrate, test, tune, and monitor solutions.
• Participate in DHS/CBP AI working groups to be informed of the latest policies and directives and emerging AI tools.

Job Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• CBP BI or SSBI (Top Secret clearance) or DHS Clearance REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field and 15+ years of experience; or HS Diploma and 21+ years of experience.
• Proficient with multiple AI programming in Python, Java, or R and machine learning frameworks like Spark, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
• Must have practical experience and project management knowledge necessary to manage large and complex program requirements and initiatives throughout OA and CBP.
