Meta is looking for a skilled Research Scientist to join our Reality Labs XRTech Core AI team. Our organization is dedicated to developing innovative foundational models that enable unique and engaging user experiences across various Reality Labs products. As a AI Research Scientist with expertise in multimodal processing, understanding, and reasoning through on-device LLMs, you will play a key role in exploring how to create contextually aware AI that revolutionizes human-AI interaction. This new paradigm will transform the way we interact with and utilize AI devices from Reality Labs. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners, leveraging cutting-edge technology, resources, and research facilities. AI Research Scientist, Language – Core AI Responsibilities

• Lead the development of research strategy, identify key opportunities and challenges, and lead the efforts to drive innovation in multimodal contextual processing, understanding and reasoning while collaborating with stakeholders to align with business objectives.
• Independently design and develop novel algorithms and models for multimodal processing, contextual understanding, and reasoning, with a focus on privacy preservation for both server based and embedded systems.
• Implement and benchmark solutions using python and c++ through various devices based on various metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and product managers, to push the new technique innovation to product tracks.
• Actively engage with the academic community through participation, contribution, and publication of research outcomes in top-tier conferences and journals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Has PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab.
• Proficient in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow, with proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying deep learning models.
• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab with emphasis on AI Research in multimodal processing, including computer vision, natural language processing, sensor fusion and generative AI.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++ with experience in delivering models and solutions for embedding devices.
• Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR or similar.
• Experience taking ideas from research to production.
• Experience in leading research initiatives and teams, with excellent communication and project management skills.

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
