About the team

Join a dynamic software engineering team specializing in Big Data and AI on the Cloud at Kinaxis. We partner closely with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to create next-generation, scalable, and secure Big Data and AI solutions for global supply chains. Our focus is on transforming innovative concepts into robust, maintainable systems.

As part of the Kinaxis AI Platform (AIP) team, you’ll be at the forefront of cloud-native big data and machine learning (ML) processing. We operate at the intersection of DataOps, MLOps, and Software Engineering, developing tools that empower our users to seamlessly manage big data and deploy ML applications globally

What you will do

• Prototype Development: Build and iterate on prototypes to clarify requirements and reduce technical ambiguity.
• Platform Foundation: Architect and enhance a robust platform supporting AI and data solutions across Kinaxis, aligning with our product vision and user needs.
• Architectural Innovation: Lead the evolution of our AI platform architecture, integrating customer feedback and leveraging your technical expertise.
• Agile Collaboration: Participate in agile processes, including pair programming, backlog refinement, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
• Leadership: Lead development & QA efforts, ensuring high-quality deliverables and efficient defect resolution. This role includes guiding team and overseeing key processes rather than direct personnel management.
• Strategic Initiatives: Identify and address engineering challenges, leading initiatives that align with our strategic goals.
• Technical Communication: Articulate complex technical concepts and product knowledge to a broad range of stakeholders, from engineers to senior management

What we are looking for

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience: Over 10 years in software development, including 3+ years specializing in enterprise-grade Spark or big data applications, with hands-on experience managing production data systems.

Technical Skills: Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions using Python, Scala, and/or Java, with strong proficiency in big data processing, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing. We expect a deep understanding of both architectural principles and hands-on tool usage.

Quality Focus: Strong commitment to product quality and building maintainable software.
Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a variety of stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Kubernetes & IaC: Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code practices.
• AI/ML Platforms: Background in building platforms for AI/ML applications such as demand forecasting, supply chain analytics, or generative AI.
• Ops Practices: Familiarity with DataOps, MLOps, and DevOps methodologies.
• Advanced Data Management: Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
