Staff Researcher, AI/Vision Intelligence Full-time

Lab Summary: Samsung AI Research Center (SAIC) located in Mountain View, California, is currently recruiting outstanding scientists for the Vision Intelligence lab. Our goal is to perform long-term research with potential for direct impact on future Samsung products reaching hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We are focused on pushing the state-of-the-art in multimodal understanding, generation, editing, long-term planning and tool use.

Position Summary: SAIC-Mountain View is looking for strong candidates with expertise in computer vision and multimodal ML.

Position Responsibilities: We are looking for candidates with a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to:

• Multi-modal tasks, such as visual question answering and visual dialog, visual captioning, vision-and-language representation learning, and dialogue-driven image/video search, editing, and/or summarization.
• Multi-modal planning and tool use.
• High-level computer vision, such as object detection and segmentation, video summarization, activity recognition and representation learning.

Required Skills:

• PhD in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• 3+ years’ industry experience in Artificial Intelligence projects
• Track record of publishing scientific papers in top conferences and journals
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal), motivation for international collaboration
• Ability to mentor interns and other scientists in the lab
• Experience with ML optimization including distributed training, low-rank adaptation
• Solid technical and programming skills (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow)

The base pay range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors-including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

Base Pay Range

$170,700-$234,400 USD
