Software Development Manager, Health AI Full-time

The Health AI organization is looking for an SDM to join AWS HealthImaging, a new HIPAA-eligible service that helps healthcare and life science organizations and their software partners to store, analyze, and share medical imaging data at petabyte scale. With HealthImaging, customers can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of medical imaging applications up to 40% by running their medical imaging applications from a single copy of patient imaging data in the cloud. With sub-second image retrieval latencies for active and archive data, they can realize the cost savings of the cloud without sacrificing performance at the point of care.

Lead a 2-pizza team of SDEs in Santa Clara focused on defining, building and operating AHI’s DICOM compliance. As the founding leader of the team, you will evolve the new team’s charter, establish AWS OE best practices for the new service and build relationships with partner AWS service teams. You will partner with the product team to define AHI’s mix of standards based and AWS native interfaces for low latency imaging search, retrieve and edit operations. You will ensure customers can efficiently integrate their standards based medical imaging workflows with AHI. You will ensure customers can efficiently integrate their ML and next-gen medical imaging workflows with AHI.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 2+ years of engineering team management experience

– 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

– 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

– Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

– Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 4+ years hands-on experience as a SDM leading software engineering teams and Data Pipeline projects

– Experience with Medical Imaging standards (DICOM, WSI, iSyntax)

– Experience with image transcoding

– Experience with AWS Search, Analytics and database services (S3, OpenSearch, DDB, Athena, Redshift, Aurora)

– Experience with AWS or other cloud data transform services (Glue, Kineses, Kafka, Spark)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
