About the team

With the area of Data & AI, we handle projects based on the practical application of data science and artificial intelligence on an unprecedented scale in Poland. Data & AI is made up of over 100 experienced Big Data engineers working in over a dozen teams with different fields of expertise. Some of them develop dedicated tools to create and activate Big Data processing, or to implement ML models for the entire organization. Others tend to work closer to the client, being responsible for the search engine, developing recommendations, building buyers’ profiles or enhancing the experimental platform. There are also research teams whose task is to seek solutions for unconventional problems that require the application of machine learning.

We are looking for Software engineers who want to learn Big Data and build a highly scalable and fault-tolerant data ingestion for millions of Allegro customers. The platform collects 5 billion clickstream events every day (up to 150k / sec) from all Allegro sites and Allegro mobile applications. This is a hybrid solution using a mix on-premise and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services like Spark, Kafka, Beam, BigQuery, Pubsub or Dataflow.

We are looking for people who:

• Have experience in programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Kotlin
• Demonstrate enthusiasm to apply theoretical knowledge of distributed systems in practical scenarios
• Use good practices (clean code, code review, TDD, CI/CD)
• Navigate efficiently within Unix/Linux systems
• Are interested in the application of ML AI
• Possess a positive attitude and team-working skills
• Are eager for personal development and keeping their knowledge up to date
• Know English at B2 level and Polish at minimum C1 level
