Senior Manager – AI Application Engineering Full-time

We are hiring an AI Platform Engineering Manager to lead the AI Application Engineering team enabling the responsible use of AI for the 750 product teams at Vanguard. You’ll be defining the technical roadmap and vision for custom applications using AI at Vanguard and enabling the tools and capabilities needed for these teams to be successful. We define success as every custom application responsibly using AI to transform our business and developers being delighted to use our services. You’ll be leading a team of engineers as well as working with senior stakeholders and platform teams across the company. This is a highly visible role that requires both technical expertise, the ability to quickly deliver value, as well as the ability to manage a number of senior stakeholders. Subject matter expertise in GenAI technology, AWS, and platform enablement are needed to be successful.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable AI platforms that support machine learning model deployment and data pipelines
• Implement and maintain MLOps best practices for continuous integration and deployment .
• Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps teams to integrate AI solutions into the platform
• Ensure the reliability, security, and compliance of the AI platform

• Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Manages the planning and implementation of enterprise-wide platform projects, including schedule, resources and communication of project status. Anticipates current and future needs of the organization and makes recommendations regarding project scope, schedule and budget. Manages the resolution of the most complex availability and incident management issues elevated from staff and clients.
• Manages technical support staff who implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and install cloud based platforms across all systems, ensuring defined business service levels are met. Plans, develops, and executes short and long range goals and strategies to meet department, divisional, and corporate objectives.
• Evaluates alternatives for modifications to cloud computing systems and implements solutions that meet long-term business objectives and current organizational requirements. Establishes, communicates and drives continuous improvement of key performance, quality and client satisfaction metrics.
• Plans and implements new technologies and major releases for the most critical enterprise-wide IT cloud platform projects. Leads teams that troubleshoot, configure, and tune systems.
• Provides thought leadership and develops technical standards to serve Vanguard technical needs. Manages the evaluation, selection and ongoing performance of IT cloud vendor products and services.
• Learns and understands client area business functions and requirements. Determines the appropriate technical tool to address the client’s business needs.
• Maintains expertise and awareness of industry trends and technologies; making timely adjustments to strategies as appropriate.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
• AI and Machine Learning Expertise. Proficiency in machine learning algorithms, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
• Experience with AI frameworks and libraries.
• Knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Understanding of cloud-native architectures and services.
• System Design and Architecture. Ability to design scalable, cost-effective AI solutions.
• Ability to align AI solutions with business objectives and strategic goals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing AI projects from conception to deployment.
• Skills in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
• Willingness to stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and related technologies
