What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

• Building, optimizing, and scaling intuitive, performant frontend applications for cutting-edge Generative AI tools that empower millions of Canva users.
• Collaborating with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to craft user experiences that make complex AI-powered tools simple and delightful to use.
• Developing frameworks and reusable components to accelerate AI product development across Canva.
• Working closely with the AI Media team to experiment and iterate rapidly on new ideas to unlock creative possibilities for our users.
• Maintaining a strong focus on performance, reliability, and accessibility to ensure seamless design experiences for every user.

You’re probably a match if

• You’re an experienced frontend engineer. You have 5+ years of commercial experience building rich, interactive web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
• You have a passion for AI. You’re excited by the potential of Generative AI and want to contribute to tools that push the boundaries of creativity.
• You love a great user experience. You care deeply about creating interfaces that are not only functional but delightful and easy to use.
• You’re a collaborator at heart. You thrive in cross-functional teams and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You’re curious and innovative. You enjoy exploring new technologies and experimenting with ideas to solve challenging problems.

Our mission is to create tools that empower anyone, anywhere, to bring their creative visions to life effortlessly. From enhancing videos and photos to generating entirely new visuals, we’re working on the frontier of innovation to help millions of users unlock their full creative potential.
