The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer – AI/GenAI to join our team of technical and functional experts supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Headquarters, Chief Technology Officer Directorate (CTOD), Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology (AI/ET) initiative. This team works with a federal workforce staff with technical expertise for the smooth functioning of high-visibility, department-wide AI initiatives.

Ideal candidates will possess a robust technical background, with a deep understanding of the technologies involved in delivering cloud capabilities and tools with extensive experience in transforming these tools into operational capabilities. Candidates demonstrating significant expertise in developing and deploying Generative AI (GenAI) solutions, coupled with exceptional project management skills, are highly desirable. A strong passion for AI technologies and a proven track record in planning and executing pilot programs should be clearly highlighted in the resume.

This is a remote work eligible position.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Engineer, install, maintain, configure, and optimize cloud native services and infrastructure for new applications hosted in the cloud environment (Azure or AWS)
• Design, build, test and deploy cloud services for highly scalable and resilient cloud-based applications based on the principles of well-architected frameworks for the Cloud
• Develop performance metrics based on customer requirements; provide assessments and recommendations to senior leadership
• Collaborate with matrixed functional and technical experts to plan, organize, and direct activities for all assigned projects to achieve project goals.
• Provide support across multiple AI Corps Department-wide projects including, but not limited to Artificial Intelligence Task Force projects and pilots, Generative AI, emerging technology research and planning. May support projects related to Facial Recognition/Face Capture and Language Translation and Transcription
• Assist with meeting management and logistics support relevant to the AI Corps to include drafting topic ideas; supporting coordination and routing agendas.
• Participate in working group sessions on relevant study topics, interviews with relevant stakeholders, drafting analytic summaries, and make recommendations for working group reports.
• Assist in development of informational products for internal and external stakeholders in the form of fact sheets, reports, memos, and recommendations as necessary.
• Assist in development of briefings for internal and external audiences, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines and policies.
• Conduct research and provide analytical support, conduct analysis and draft recommendations in support of AI Corps priorities
• Produce project deliverables based on the full scope of the Statement of Work (SOW)
• Ensure awareness and understanding of overall program status including risks, strategic options, and decisions for resolution by all relevant stakeholders.
• Provide thought leadership to drive customer mission priorities and program success.
• Bring a collaborative, team-centric attitude and enthusiasm that encourages outreach and partnership.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in AI technologies, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Ability to obtain DoD Security Clearance
• Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry On Duty (EOD) – Active EOD preferred
• MA/MS and 12 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent (equivalency includes BA/BS + 15 years applicable experience)
• Ability to both conceptualize cloud architecture as well as directly implement cloud services as part of a small, agile team
• Expertise in Azure Cloud environment (expertise in both Azure and AWS is highly desirable)
• Experience in configuring and scaling cloud services and infrastructure for projects on Azure using native service for networking, security, storage, etc.
• Experience configuring and managing cloud services to support new cloud applications throughout the lifecycle from prototype to production
• Ability to conceptualize ideas and develop implementation plans
• Expertise in AWS and/or Azure Clouds environments (expertise in both is highly desirable)
• Understanding of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) based architecture.
• Experience implementing AI/ML/GenAI capabilities.
• Comfortable with experimentation and “sandbox” testing experience
• Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environment.
• Experience architecting and enabling developer environments and tools.
• Experience securing cloud network and infrastructure environments.
• Experience architecting data pipelines using structured and unstructured data.
• Logging, monitoring, and auditing skillsets
• Expertise with Infrastructure as Code
• Experience architecting designs for technical audiences, developer environments, and enabling tools.
• Ability to manage large data sets.
• Experience architecting data pipelines using structured and unstructured data.

Desired:

• Strong experience in working hands-on with Azure cloud services and infrastructure to scale cloud-based applications
• Project Management Certification (PMP, Scrum, Agile)
• Experience working in a geographically dispersed, remote workforce.
• Strong organization and communications skills and ability to work collaboratively with senior government Leaders.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Advanced MS Office Suite proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)
• Strong initiative to proactively establish relationships, setting up working groups to achieve outcomes, finding opportunities to innovate and improve value, as well as providing new ideas for improvement.
• Ability to work independently on a complex task with little direction and management oversight.
• Able to understand customer operational needs and identify areas for improvement in business processes and propose solutions.
• Application-level understanding of 508 compliance requirements
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to relate effectively with program employees, government/client representatives, and internal organizational functional representatives.
• Able to discover relevant data, understand the context it is being used, and apply experience analysis to turn data into useful information.
• Experienced receiving initial information and guidance, conducting research to better understand requirements, and achieving high quality results.
• Understanding of Data Science principles and best practices

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$104,200-$229,200
