Operations IT is a global capability supporting the Global Operations organization across Pharmaceutical Technology Development, Manufacturing & Global Engineering, Quality Control, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Global External Sourcing and Procurement. We operate from key hubs in the UK, Sweden, the US, China, and our Global Technology Centers in India and Mexico. Introduction to the role:
Join us as a Senior AI Scientist and play a pivotal role in building key AI products, deploying them into production, and generating business and scientific insights through advanced data science solutions. This role offers the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative models using both foundational and cutting-edge techniques to process structured and unstructured data. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, providing expertise in advanced mathematical and AI models to solve complex problems in drug development, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.

Accountabilities:
As a Senior AI Scientist, you will supply and lead the application of sophisticated quantitative expertise in advanced mathematical fields to develop innovative data science solutions. You will drive the implementation of advanced modeling algorithms (e.g., classification, regression, clustering, NLP, image analysis, graph theory, generative AI) to generate actionable business insights. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of AI solutions with business objectives is a key part of this role. You will also influence and engage with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of AI solutions.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in operations research, mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, economics, computational sciences, or a related quantitative field.
• Extensive experience with modern data science approaches, including NLP, Optimisation, Computer Vision, Graph and Generative AI.
• Proven track record in modeling and analyzing complex datasets within applied business or scientific domains.
• Advanced proficiency in data science languages: Python, with familiarity in database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Graph).
• Strong understanding of software development principles and experience in algorithm design, development, optimization, scaling, and applications.
• Experience in manipulating and analyzing large, high-dimensionality unstructured datasets and presenting actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, business analysis, and consultancy skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of at least one business area relevant to the application of data science.

Desirable skills:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant quantitative field.
• Experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Dataiku, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, manufacturing, supply chain process.
