Senior AI Engineer – Cyber Defense (m/f/d) Full-time

Position Overview:

The AI Engineer is a member of the Siemens Cybersecurity (CYS) Defense team. The primary mission is to detect, analyze, investigate and defend against sophisticated cyberattacks.

The AI Engineer designs, implements and operates AI use cases on top of the Semens CYS AI platform leveraging cloud and on-premise services. She/He translates functional requirements from different CYS teams into a high performance Cyber Defense AI use cases that integrate with other Cybersecurity Siemens platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently.
• Assess and translate Cyber Defense requirements into AI use cases.
• Assess and translate functional and operational requirements into a detailed architecture. You will leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Siemens CYS AI Platform features to build and architect AI use cases.
• Build or integrate automation tools to deploy and monitor AI use cases.
• Collaborate and assist team members on the design, implementation and operationalization of AI use cases.
• Operate Big Data streaming/real-time/batch environments.
• Develop and deploy Cyber Defense AI use cases on top of Siemens CYS AI platform based on AWS, through CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate AI use cases with advanced forensic tools.
• Interface with external entities in an operational environment.
• Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems.
• Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments.

Required Knowledge/Skills:

• BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
• Typically, 3-5 years of successful work experience with multiple years in a related field or solid theoretical understanding of AI, Data Science or a related field.
• Successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
• Extensive background in AI, Data Science and Statistics.
• Experience with modern Data Science frameworks; e.g. Amazon SageMaker, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, LangChain, end-to-end AI platforms.
• Experience on conducting AI experiments and report results.
• Experience with Unix based systems.
• Proven skills with data engineering, ingestion and integration frameworks; e.g. related AWS serverless services, queues, databases, Spark/PySpark, event driven architectures, etc.
• Proven skills in structuring code, code design patterns and programming languages; e.g. Python, Java.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow an execution plan.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to train and guide colleagues.
• Demonstrated professional maturity and presentation skills.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

• AWS Certification degree is of advantage; e.g. AWS Solution Architect, AWS Developer, AWS ML specialization, …
• Any other type of AWS knowledge is an advantage.
• Experience managing a Cyber Security investigation and understanding the methodologies for investigating and triaging is of advantage.
• Understanding of Firewalls, Proxies, VPN, covert tunneling, Layer 3 switching, intrusion detection systems and data reconstruction is of advantage.
• Comprehensive understanding of production plant and/or automation environments.
