What you’ll be doing…

This position will drive profitable growth and business innovation by applying cutting edge machine learning techniques and AI technology. It will independently lead data science projects that drive product personalization, marketing effectiveness, channel optimization, better customer experience, and operation efficiency. You will work closely with a team of talented data scientists, Big Data engineers, and software developers and play a key role in developing and delivering the next generation AI/ML solutions to the business.

You’ll create machine learning models to predict customer behavior and intent to support marketing campaigns for customer retention, prospect acquisition and revenue growth. You’ll then present the results to various business partners such as marketing, finance, and our customer relationship management group.

With an eye towards improving performance and predictability, you like the science of analytics. Developing resolutions to complex problems, using your sharp judgment to develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria enables you to deliver solutions that make a big impact. You’re able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, and you take pride in your ability to share your considerable knowledge with your peers.

The key responsibilities include:

• Independently working on data science projects and deliver innovative technical solutions to solve problems and improve business outcomes
• Be able to complete the design and development of machine learning/statistical models and ensure best performance
• Working closely with machine learning engineers to deploy models in production both in real time and in batch process and systematically track model performance
• Assisting engagement with key business stakeholders in discussion on business strategies and opportunities
• Building strong working relationship and develop deep partnership with the business
• Being a subject matter expert on machine learning and predictive modeling
• Driving technical innovation through active research and applications of new theories, techniques, and technologies

What we’re looking for…

You are excited to work in a cloud environment, supporting development and deployment in the Verizon Grid. You are self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. You are excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing the architecture to support our next generation of products and dataset creation for modelling purposes.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent;
• 3+ years experience in practicing machine learning and data science in business; Solid foundational quantitative knowledge and skills; extensive training in math, statistics, physical science, engineering, or other related fields;
• 3+ years of experience in developing models and algorithms independently, writing your own code, developing strategy for algorithmic experimentation, and deploying the model in production.
• Knowledge of AI/ML models, frameworks(pytorch, tensorflow, etc.) and libraries/packages/APIs (e.g., scikit).
• Experience in data management and data analysis skills. Strong expertise in SQL skills.
• Hands-on computing/programming skills; proficient in Python, R, and Linux Shell script
• A Master or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field is preferred;
• 2+ years of experience in scaling AI in areas like personalization, Deep learning, NLP, computer vision, Generative AI, etc.
• Ability to explain both the code and the underlying math used in algorithms/models.
• Experience in both batch and streaming models in production.
• Experience in Hadoop, GCP, AWS or other distributed compute services.
• Strong communication skills.
• Good cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
