Scientist Computer Vision – BASF | Nunhems – Haelen/Nunhem Full-time

Are you a Data Scientist working in Computer Vision with a passion for developing solutions for an R&D environment in Biosciences?

In BASF | Nunhems R&D, we drive the development of new varieties of vegetables. An important part of this process is phenotyping: the characterization of our biomaterials (e.g., fruits, leaves) Our Digital Phenotyping projects aim to develop digital methods for better quality and more efficiency in phenotypic data collection.

If you recognize yourself in this, then the position of Scientist Computer Vision, within our Digital Technology department, this is an exciting opportunity for you!

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Design and deliver image analysis algorithms and pipelines that improve existing workflows to collect data more efficiently and with a higher quality
• Lead and participate in inter-disciplinary projects and through this contribute to (new) technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets
• Creatively drive our vision to create better data that improves our decision processes
• Build and maintain a network that supports the best-in-industry innovation environment through timely identifying leading edge technologies, knowledge exchange, collaboration, talent binding and mindset
• Willingness to travel (max. 10%)

Qualifications and Experiences

• PhD or master’s degree with minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Proven experience in computer vision and image analysis
• Proficient in state of the art image analysis environments, e.g. MVTec Halcon or OpenCV
• Experienced in programming languages in the context of data science, preferably python
• Experience with machine learning and AI frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, PyTorch) is a plus
• Excellent project management skills
• Language skills: English (fluent).
