Research Manager (Generative AI) Full-time

The Generative AI Org at Meta is seeking a technical leader to join our team and work on the next generation of Llama models. As a technical leader of our team, you will play a critical role in building state of the art LLMs. We have the opportunity to help people everywhere get stuff done better and faster. This year we open sourced Llama 2 and launched Meta AI. We will continue investing here to improve model quality and model capabilities.

Research Manager (Generative AI) Responsibilities

• Grow a team of domain experts within LLM Research of Generative AI
• Develop technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization
• Drive execution of developing models and systems
• Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to facilitate cross-functional projects
• Remain up-to-date on ongoing research and development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges, and be involved in design decisions

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in leading research projects
• Extensive hands on experience in large language model, NLP, and Transformer modeling, in the setting of both research and engineering development
• Extensive experience supporting and leading teams of software engineers and research scientists
• Proven technical vision in the field of generative AI
• Experience with cross functional collaboration with product and platform teams, as well as non-engineering functions
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, leading technical organizations, including performance management

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in learning, artificial intelligence, and/or related technical field
• Experience and knowledge of ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
• Experience and knowledge of training LLMs
