Principal Data Engineer – Data and AI Architect

Job Purpose:

As a Data Platform and engineering Architect you will be responsible for designing the end-to-end cloud based (Azure) solution architecture of the applications and data products within Global Supply Chain Data & AI organization.

This includes collaborating with product managers, product owners, other solution architects, data modelers, business intelligence developers, and data engineers from different data product and cross-functional teams.

You will play a key role in architecture review and governance and develop standard data architecture patterns and best practices, optimize the Azure platform and governance for Global supply chain, including leading several automation and platform governance initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

• Design end-to-end data product architecture that would encompass storage & compute resources, front-end components, visualization components, virtual machines and other cloud resources as needed for the solution.
• Create Blueprint and reference architectures for emerging technologies in Data and AI platforms
• Assessment and strategy for emerging technologies and fitment into the overall GSC architecture landscape
• Govern and review data product architectures against defined standards and best practices.
• Automate platform architecture process including platform provisioning automation for standard patterns.
• Collaboration with product and infrastructure platform teams to implement governance strategies and policies.
• Providing product leadership, technical direction and expertise to architecture and engineering teams composed of full-time employees, strategic partners, and software vendors.
• Driving a culture of innovation, transparency, and trust.
• Contribute to strategic roadmap for a technical domain.
• Handle highly ambiguous situations.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with strong problem solving skills in addition to the following skills to achieve our goals:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
• Total 10+ years of experience in designing end-to-end solutions for cloud-based (Azure) data analytics products and web applications in Agile software development with excellent verbal and written articulation skills.
• Understanding of Data and AI Reference Architecture and Azure Well Architected Framework
• Ability to design and architect complex data Products in a Data Mesh including batch and streaming.
• Fundamental understanding of various Data Storage, Data Modelling and Compute technologies
• Considerable experience in designing, development, testing and deployments of complex data pipelines in modern data platform using ADLS Gen2, Databricks, Spark, Python, Azure Data Factory, Streaming Technologies, for data ingestion, data integration and data consumption.
• Hands-On Data Architect
• Understanding and experience in AI-ML based Architectures including GenAI

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following qualifications, it would be a plus:

• Azure Data Engineer certification.
• Pharma manufacturing industry experience and exposure to factory data integration.
• Experience on regulated systems including GxP, SoX, HIPAA & GDPR
• Project management experience, especially with Agile.
• Knowledge and experience of building reusable components and frameworks
