PhD Research Intern, Digital Human AI Research Full-time

NVIDIA is searching for an outstanding research intern to join the Digital Human AI Research (DAIR) group to work on creating lifelike digital humans. Our goal is to improve and democratize the entire digital human creation process, including capture, modeling, synthesis, and animation, with an emphasis on both appearance and dynamic characteristics.

You will work with a passionate and collaborative research team that consistently produces influential works published at leading computer vision and machine learning conferences. You will also have a chance to collaborate with other world-class research teams at NVIDIA following NVIDIA’s one-team culture.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design and implement novel AI algorithms for digital human creation and animation.
• Develop large-scale AI training and inference methods for digital human foundation models.
• Work collaboratively with your mentor(s).
• Publish your research at leading conferences.
• Work with product teams for technology transfer.

Research Topics Include:

• Foundational Models for Digital Humans.
• Pose estimation and tracking.
• 3D Human Reconstruction and Generation.
• Human Motion Modeling.
• Neural Rendering, 3DGS, etc.
• Neural/Physics Simulation
• Generative AI, Diffusion, GANs, LLMs, etc.

What we need to see:

• Pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.
• Outstanding engineering skills in rapid prototyping and model training frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc.). Python is required; C++ and CUDA proficiencies are a plus.
• Excellent skills in working with large-scale machine learning/AI systems and compute infrastructure.
• Promising research track record.
• Background in 3D human reconstruction, human motion modeling, human-object interaction, generative modeling of humans, physics/neural simulators and cloth modeling is desirable.
