Manager in AI Engineering Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and inspire direct reports to deliver high quality, high performance AI-based software functional products, using agile and other principles as appropriate.
• Manage and actively contribute to the (hands-on) development of high-performance AI-based solutions through state-of-the-art code and algorithm optimization.
• Follow and contribute (hands-on) to CI/CD, deployment, and documentation processes.
• Work with data scientists to capture model requirements to further produce the best model optimization (hardware and software) strategy.
• Program management through all development cycles, from prototyping to delivery.
• Leverage emerging scientific and technological developments to generate new solutions and initiatives for large-scale AI modeling.
• Present results on behalf of project team in a cross-functional setting, contextualizing fit within the broader project.
• Support the development of the local team and provide day-to-day assistance.
• Serve as the liaison between local and US teams.
• Manage resources, capacity planning, and operational needs.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• A PhD or MSc in computer sciences, AI/ML, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience after PhD, or relevant experience after MSc.
• Demonstrated successful team leadership and project management skills in industry.
• Deep expertise in AI / deep learning with excellent analytical & computer science skills, including both software and hardware, as demonstrated by publications in top tier journals and conferences, awards, patents and others.
• Proficiency in more than one programming languages used in AI development (e.g., Python, C++) and related frameworks (e.g., Pytorch, Tensorflow).
• Hands-on expertise in AI systems engineering, algorithm optimization and hardware acceleration
• High-quality software development (CI/CD, deployment, documentation) through all development cycles, from prototyping to delivery.
• Demonstrated expertise in optimizing large AI models, both training and deployment
• Excellent knowledge of AI technical trends (software and hardware)
• Ability to capture model requirements and ask the right questions to produce the best model optimization (software and hardware) strategy.
• Excellent program management skills.
• Analytical mindset and critical thinking.
• Ability to continuously learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide and diverse audience in an international setting.
• Passionate in implementing the best approach for performant AI models, to improve training efficiency / cost as well as seamless, cost effective AI deployment
• Can-do attitude and ability to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred (“nice-to-have”) qualifications:

• Experience in healthcare industry and its regulated environment.
• Familiarity with drug discovery, drug safety, and clinical development processes.
