Amazon is seeking a Dutch speaking Machine Learning Data Linguist to join our Amazon Alexa data team. This role focuses on building language solutions that power Alexa products including work in the areas of text annotation, grammar writing , data analysis, and localization.
Key job responsibilities
The Data Linguist must be capable of:
– Building a thorough understanding of data labeling conventions and provide support to global teams
– Localizing established guidelines from English into Dutch
– Developing Dutch grammars and other forms of NLU applications
– Improving deployed grammars by expanding coverage, accuracy, and eliminating bugs
– Delivering high quality data output under aggressive deadlines
– Working autonomously with minimum direction
– Handling unique data analysis requests from a range of data customers
– Contributing to process improvements to reduce handling time and improve data output
– Diving deep into issues and implement solutions independently
– Providing expertise in data quality and process efficiency to support other team members
In addition, the Dutch Data Linguist will need to quickly understand changes in response to customers’ requests and change workflows accordingly.
The Dutch Data Linguist must have a passion for data, efficiency, and accuracy as well as:
– Show proactive efforts in addressing issues and problems
– Excellent communication, strong organizational skills and very detail oriented
– Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
– Willingness to support several projects at one time, and to accept re-prioritization as necessary

Alexa AI in Berlin owns fast language expansion and all aspects of NU modeling and science operations for International and Global Domain representing millions of active users per month. We are committed to driving and releasing improvements for NU performance while improving model build and release efficiency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– BA or BS degree
– Native level fluency in Dutch
– Business level fluency in English
– 2+ years of experience with language data handling or data markup
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
– Team player with exceptional interpersonal and solution-oriented attitude
– Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house user-interface tools
– Skilled working knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft Office/Excel, JIRA, Oracle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– BA/BS or Master’s degree in Linguistics/Computational Linguistics, or equivalent practical experience in data markup
– Experience working with grammars and other forms of speech or NLP technology
– Experience with command line tools
– Practical knowledge of data processing needs and trade-offs
