Intern, AI for Material Science Full-time

Futurewei has opening for AI for Material Science intern. Candidate will participate in cutting edge research in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, especially with respect to problems in computational chemistry and material science. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from senior researchers to explore and develop new and impactful technologies.

Responsibilities
• Develop ML/AI solutions for real world problems (computational chemistry and material science).
• Provide research input on early explorations: determine the scope of the problem, the best use of ML, and the merits of different approaches.
• Provide guidance on data needs (size, type, variability).
• Integrating latest research into applied projects.
• Prepare reports, manuscripts, proposals, and technical manuals for use by other scientists.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree, Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, and related major is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning Python toolboxes.
• Experience with ML pipelines, experiments and system evaluation.
• Programming experience with Machine Learning/Deep Learning frameworks.
• Self-motivated detail-oriented team player.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. Have track record of publishing scientific papers.

Hourly intern pay range: $18 to $59, depending on degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc.), years of relevant experience, year in school, internship location, credentials, qualifications, geographic location and other job-related factors.
