Data Scientist – Machine Learning / Generative AI Full-time

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Data Scientist, you’ll dive into large datasets to uncover insights that drive significant improvements in our R&D processes. You will focus on Machine Learning and Generative AI to drive the implementation of AI use cases. You’ll spend your day collaborating with multi-functional teams & external partners, consult domain experts and apply advanced data science techniques to solve real-world problems.

Your work will enhance process quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency, directly impacting Siemens Energy’s mission to innovate and lead in the energy sector.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Design, implement, and evaluate large-scale language models and generative AI use cases
• Consult business partners in cooperation with data engineers to create business cases & find the best possible solution for their processes
• Optimize the performance, scalability, and reliability of language, vision models and generative AI systems.
• Communicate the results and insights of machine learning experiments and projects to stakeholders and clients.
• Regularly validate and develop further AI solutions based on customer/user feedback
• Driving the roll-out of AI/ML across the R&D teams through knowledge sharing, supporting trainings and raising awareness.
• Being up to date on latest developments in data science, AI/ML principles and theories to help the business make truly data-driven decisions.

What You Bring

Must have:

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, machine learning, natural language processing, or related fields.
• Proven analytical skills and profound expertise in data science with focus on Generative AI, LLMs, NLP and other artificial intelligence methods
• Passion for AI, data and analytics
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, good knowledge in the application of statistical modelling as well as experience in deployment and cloud computing.
• Interest in dealing with business processes and technical challenges in order to derive optimization potential
• Deep knowledge in at least one Machine learning environment (SageMaker, AI Studio, WatsonX or comparable)
• Willingness to travel with focus central Europe (~25%)
• Fluent English skills
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Agile mindset and organizational/planning skills with the ability to work in multiple complex projects

Nice to have:

• Experience in applying Gen AI & ML applications in an industrial b2b environment
• German language skills
• Experience in applying GenAI at scale.

Basic research is a key driver for innovation within Grid Technologies. We drive own innovation campaigns, collaborate with in- and external partners & directly support product development with deed & profound technological expertise.

During this process, we create & collect a huge amount of data which we need to take a closer look at. In the upcoming years, we will further deep dive into the potentials of process digitalization, Machine Learning & generative AI.

Therefore we need high quality, validated data available in the right format & structure, to further evaluate them.
