SAP AI Core Product Engineering Team is part of the SAP Business AI unit and one of the key drivers of the Intelligent Enterprise. SAP’s vision is to “bring out the best in every business” and to become the “#1 enterprise application and business AI company” by ” infusing business AI across the SAP product portfolio”. Our vision for AI Core is to provide a hub that offers a seamless end-to-end journey for product engineering teams in SAP and our ecosystem accelerating time to market value for AI developments.

We are responsible for foundational products such as SAP Generative AI Hub, AI Core and AI Launchpad that help application AI Developers infuse AI capabilities in their existing products and as new AI-first product faster. Our teams are located in Germany, Singapore, and India, exemplifying an innovative, start-up-like work environment.

What you’ll do
As a Chief Architect, you will lead the technical design and architecture of AI Core, ensuring that systems are robust, scalable, and efficient. Provide technical leadership and guidance to local & global development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural best practices and product standards. Author clear technical documentation and presentations in collaboration with product engineers and architects to communicate architecture and design options to educate engineering teams and product managers.

Your tasks will include:

• Architect and Design AI Core Features: Lead the end-to-end architecture of AI solutions and platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
• Drive Innovation: Lead the evaluation, design, and integration of cutting-edge AI technologies, with a focus on generative AI, machine learning, and cloud-native architectures
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, DevOps engineers, and AI researchers to create a unified technical vision and drive high-impact projects.
• Optimize System Performance: Ensure that systems are optimized for large-scale data processing, AI workloads, and high availability.
• Mentor and Inspire Teams: Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and driving best practices for software architecture and full stack development.
• Strategize Future Growth: Work with Product Leaders and management to align technical strategies with business goals, identifying expansion opportunities
• Oversee Quality and Security: Ensure that systems meet the highest standards for security, performance, and scalability. Lead code reviews, architecture audits, and system evaluations.
• Explore, understand, and implement most recent technologies and approaches for enhancing the value and adoption of AICore.

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture, with a focus on cloud-based AI solutions.
• Strong experience leading teams and architecting complex systems with real-world AI applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or JavaScript.
• Strong expertise in hyperscaler platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Deep understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, as well as container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Additionally, familiarity with Cloud Native technology stack such as Istio, Helm, Argo, and Envoy is essential.
• Foundation in AI and machine learning model integration, particularly in generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
• Experience with secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Threat Modeling, vulnerability management, and knowledge of industry best practices.
• Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus.
• Proven track record in technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across global, distributed teams.
• Ability to tackle complex architectural problems and deliver innovative solutions under tight deadlines.

Nice to have:

• Experience in developing AI tools or frameworks, especially in enterprise contexts.
• Exposure to Generative AI and build SAP Embedded AI solutions
• Knowledge of AI ethics and data privacy in AI deployments
• Familiar with AIOps
