1. Introduction

Accident prediction and avoidance are critical in industrial settings to ensure worker safety and operational efficiency. Traditional safety measures often fall short in proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers advanced capabilities for real-time data analysis and predictive modeling, making it a powerful tool for enhancing industrial safety. This Ph.D. proposal aims to develop AI-based systems for predicting and avoiding accidents in industrial environments, focusing on improving safety protocols, reducing incidents, and minimizing downtime.

2. Research Objectives

The primary objectives of this research are:

1. To develop AI algorithms for predicting potential accidents in industrial settings.
2. To design an AI-based system for real-time monitoring and hazard detection.
3. To evaluate the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of the proposed accident prediction and avoidance system.
4. To conduct simulations and case studies to demonstrate the practical applicability and effectiveness of the developed AI system.

3. PhD Candidate Profile
• An MSc in computer science or equivalent, or a related field
• Very good programming skills (e.g., C, C++, Python)
• Professional command of English and good presentation skills
• Publications will be regarded as a plus but not required.
