We are seeking an Applied Scientist II to join our AI Security Platform organization, which builds AI-powered security solutions to reimagine how Amazon discovers and protects customer data and applications.

As an Applied Scientist II, you will be responsible for researching, modeling, designing, and implementing state-of-the-art solutions to secure products and services at Amazon scale. You will collaborate with applied scientists, security engineers, software engineers, as well as partner teams to develop innovative AI technologies that solve some of our hardest security problems, and build intelligent foundational services that support builder teams across Amazon throughout their software development journey, enabling Amazon businesses to accelerate the pace of innovation to delight our customers.

• Research and develop accurate and scalable science methods to solve some of our hardest security problems
• Partner with applied scientists, software engineers, and security engineers to drive modeling, design and implementation of AI-based, automated foundational security services that support builder teams throughout their software development journey

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

– PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience

– Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

– Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience using Large Language Models (LLMs) for business applications

– Experience translating business needs into technical requirements

– Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

– Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to work in ambiguous and constantly evolving environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
