We as Global Digital Services enable BASF’s digitalization and adoption of artificial intelligence. In agile teams, we develop innovative solutions for BASF and its customers, create new exciting customer experiences and business growth, and drive efficiencies in processes. We provide IT that works and offer knowhow and access to latest technologies.

Our team of experts for artificial intelligence explores and realizes novel solutions to maximize the business value from AI and speed up innovation. We combine Generative AI, natural language processing, graph technologies and distributed computing to master complexity for profitability and sustainability. We are pioneering advanced Agentic AI systems to extend autonomy and automation beyond limits of today.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an expert in that domain to join our team. In this role you will leverage cutting-edge as well as proven technologies to reshape the way we execute business processes and innovation. You are inspired by Objective Driven AI as Yann LeCun outlines it, Andrew Ng’s design pattens Agentic AI workflows, ChatDev and the like? You are passionate to turn those ideas into real value for the company? If you have a strong background in AI and practical experience in complex systems engineering to realize next-gen solutions, don’t hesitate to contact us!
Your main tasks in this role would be:

• In close collaboration with domain experts, cross-functional and digital product teams, you will design, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions to address challenging use cases in different domains, from automating tasks in business processes to mastering complexity in chemical production, and in driving innovation.
• You will validate the feasibility of new technological developments and methods to verify and maximize value contribution while ensuring efficient and safe operation.
• Working together with platform and product teams, you will integrate your AI developments for productive use in existing workflows and solutions.
• In addition, you contribute to continuously improve and optimize AI solutions to enhance their accuracy, scalability, optimize computational and cost efficiency, and compliance with rules and standards.
• You will stay at the forefront of AI progress and share your knowledge with colleagues to promote a learning culture for AI-driven innovation across BASF.

QUALIFICATIONS

• degree (M.Sc./PhD) in computer science, mathematics, related engineering.
• extensive experience in applying deep learning and machine learning architectures, including transformers, large and small dedicated language models to solve business problems and speed up innovation in industry.
• strong interest and first experience in the design and development of complex AI Agent and multi-agent systems beyond Chain-of-Thought.
• excellent software development skills with deep experience in Python working with AI frameworks and tools in cloud environments, esp. related to AI agent systems.
• experience in complex systems engineering and reliable AI in industrial applications.
• problem-solving attitude, excellent analytical thinking, and strong communication skills.
